Congratulations to Maddie Marriott, MA '26, on being named Bucks County Poet Laureate recently. Marriott, at age 23, is the second-youngest laureate in the 49-year history of the contest. A poet laureate is honored for their achievement as one of the most influential poets in their region.
Maddie was introduced to poetry in high school and enjoyed it when she was in college as a respite from her role as the editor of the student newspaper. While she enjoys all forms of writing, poetry became a creative outlet and a foil to newspaper writing, she says.

Well done, Maddie. You do the Writing Studies Program at SJU proud!
