300 Area Schoolchildren Head to SJU for Fun Day

What: 300 elementary schoolchildren and the SJU students who volunteer with them for weekly service will leave the classroom behind for an afternoon of spring hijinks.

When: Friday, April 30 3:30 – 5 p.m.

Where: Saint Joseph’s University 5600 City Avenue Philadelphia, Pa. Lawn of Saint Mary’s Hall Campus House (Behind McShain Hall)

Who: Co-sponsored by Campus Ministry and Residence Life

Highlights: Sack races, moon bounces, kickball games, a dunk tank, an obstacle course, animals from the Philadelphia Zoo, a visit from a clown and Rita’s Water Ice add up to a memorable day for SJU students and school children from Methodist Services, Samuel Gompers, Gesu and Holy Name schools. “Many of our students perform weekly service at these schools and this is an opportunity for us to share our campus,” says Jason Bartlett, area coordinator and interim retreats coordinator. “It also brings the mission of the University to life for our students, and allows them to experience what it means to be men and women for others.”
