Council, Moser and Newman To Serve As Hawk Mascots For 2025-26

John Council, David Moser and Christopher Newman will serve as the Saint Joseph's Hawk mascots for the 2025-26 academic year, department officials announced on Tuesday. Council will serve as The Hawk for the men's basketball program, while Newman and Moser return as The Hawk for the women's basketball program for a second consecutive year.
A rising junior from Springfield, Pennsylvania, Council has been an active member of the Hawk Hill community the past two years, serving as an orientation leader, and a programmer with Hawk Hill Productions. A double major in leadership, ethics and organizational sustainability, and finance, Council has also been as a student manager for the women's basketball program.
Serving as The Hawk for the women's basketball program this past season, Moser enters his junior year working towards degrees in finance, and business intelligence and analytics, while Newman is set to begin his senior campaign as a sports marketing major.
One of the most famous mascots in college sports, the Saint Joseph's Hawk has flapped its wings for more than 65 seasons. The Hawk is best known for staying in constant motion by flapping its wings throughout every basketball game and representing Saint Joseph's motto, "The Hawk Will Never Die."
