PHILADELPHIA (June 16, 2015) – Saint Joseph’s University’s Haub School of Business (HSB) recently earned an honorable mention in the 2014 Dr. Alfred N. and Lynn Manos Page Prize for Sustainability Issues in Business Curricula competition, presented by the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business.

This award recognizes courses offered in several HSB departments, including management, marketing and finance, which are focused on sustainability leadership.

“This recognition is significant for the Haub School because it demonstrates that students are being exposed to substantive discussions of sustainability throughout their curriculum,” says David Steingard, Ph.D., associate professor of management, associate director of the Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics at SJU and one of the faculty team members who submitted the Page Prize application.

“Educating for sustainability directly supports the Ignatian value of ‘men and women with and for others’—responsibly stewarding the earth for generations to come,” he adds.

“This award is a testament to our outstanding faculty, and illustrates what makes our programs unique. In our classrooms, issues of ethics and sustainability are valued and taught alongside academic theories and methods,” says Vana Zervanos, associate dean of HSB.

An eight-year-old competition, the Page Prize serves to recognize and support the incorporation of sustainability issues into business school curricula across the globe. The 2014 winners were announced and presented with their awards during the spring 2015 semester.
