Andrew Haas, BS ‘27, a junior double major in business intelligence and analytics and finance, is spending 10 weeks of his summer as an intern with Johnson & Johnson. The skills he's learned at St. Joe's have translated to his internship, where he has built important relationships and had the opportunity to present to senior leadership.
The Role:
Innovative Medicine (IM) Research & Development (R&D) Discovery Finance Intern, Johnson & Johnson
Describe your internship in three emojis:
🤝 (handshake)
📅 (meetings)
☕ (coffee)
The Day-to-Day:
Every day brings something new — whether it's parsing through financial data, joining cross-functional team calls or diving into project work. The variety keeps things sharp, and the learning curve has been both exciting and rewarding.
It’s 10 a.m. on a workday, what are you up to?
I’m most likely reviewing historical estimates for our P&L (profit & loss statement) or hopping on a Teams call to align with stakeholders. For me, coffee is a must at this time and always within reach.
What you learn in the classroom is pivotal and foundational to your understanding. What you learn in the real world is how to apply that knowledge.”

Business intelligence and analytics and finance double majorGo-to snack or drink that gets you through the day:
Banana, RXBAR and a black coffee – it offers a quick, clean snack to keep me fueled and focused.
My “I nailed it” moment:
Delivering my internship presentation and walking leadership through the key platforms and projects I contributed to this summer. It felt like a real culmination of everything I’ve learned and built in 10 weeks.
Favorite part of your role:
One-on-one coffee chats. Sitting down with team members to hear about their decision-making process, their journey and their perspective on Johnson & Johnson has been incredibly insightful. It’s the kind of exposure you don’t get from an Excel spreadsheet.
Fit check:
Polo, quarter-zip and chinos. It’s a professional but comfortable fit.
Tips for the next intern:
Take detailed notes. Walking out of a meeting with clarity on how to create value is important for action-oriented steps. I’d recommend a pen and pad to everyone. And everyone is worth a cup of coffee. Make the time to meet people, ask questions and learn about their path. Your network is truly your net worth.
Fun/interesting collaborations, celebrity/influencers meets?
No celebrity meets (yet), but I have a meeting scheduled with [Saint Joseph’s alumnus] Joseph Wolk BS ‘88, the Johnson & Johnson CFO. I’m excited for that conversation and the insight it’s sure to bring.
