SJU Names Chief Marketing and Communications Officer

Marie Williams, a marketing communications professional with more than 20 years of experience in the field, has been named Saint Joseph’s University’s chief marketing and communications officer.

PHILADELPHIA (January 16, 2018) — Marie Williams, a marketing communications professional with more than 20 years of experience in the field, has been named Saint Joseph’s University’s chief marketing and communications officer. She will join the University starting Monday, February 12.

“Marie brings with her a terrific blend of both higher education and for-profit experience,” says Joseph P. Kender, vice president for University relations. “Her expertise in these fields will be an asset in positioning the University in an increasingly competitive market and among myriad audiences.”

Williams most recently served as a senior vice president at Edelman, a communications and marketing firm headquartered in New York City, where she led the education practice and worked with a number of higher education clients, including Yale and Columbia Universities and the ed/X interface between Harvard and MIT, among others. Prior to her time with Edelman, she worked for RF Binder, another New York-based PR agency, leading its education, ed tech and CSR practices. Earlier in her career, Williams served on the corporate communications team for Pep Boys and was a communications manager for PECO Energy.

A Delaware Valley native, Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Pennsylvania, where she began her career.
