Guaranteed Admission Program
Overview
Saint Joseph's is proud to introduce a new guaranteed admission program to outstanding high school students across the region. Our guaranteed admission program is available to students who have met certain grade point average (GPA) criteria, and will include scholarship awards to help in funding your education.
Participating Schools
If you are a student at one of the following high schools in the Greater Philadelphia region, you're eligible for guaranteed admission:
- Bishop Eustace Preparatory School (Pennsauken Township, NJ)
- Camden Catholic High School (Cherry Hill, NJ)
- Holy Ghost Preparatory School (Bensalem, PA)
- Merion Mercy Academy (Merion Station, PA)
- Notre Dame High School (Lawrenceville, NJ)
- Padua Academy (Wilmington, DE)
- St. Joseph's Preparatory School (Philadelphia, PA)
- Villa Joseph Marie High School (Southampton, PA)
Admission Information
Here's the important information you need to know:
- Students will be guaranteed admission with a cumulative weighted 3.75 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- If you meet that criteria, you will receive, at minimum, a $30,000 four-year merit scholarship award for a total value of $120,000, plus an additional $5,000 excellence award for an additional total value of $20,000.
- Applying direct-entry? The Master of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Pharmacy and majors of Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies - Health Science will be guaranteed admission with a cumulative weighted 3.75 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale. This must be joined by a weighted math and science GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.0 scale with the following courses:
- Mathematics: Two years of algebra, one year of geometry (a higher-level math is encouraged in senior year, such as trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus)
- Science: Three years of science with a lab
Questions and Answers
Q: Is there anything else I should know about applying to the direct-entry programs?
A: Merit scholarships and excellence awards are provided for eight semesters (four years total) of full-time undergraduate enrollment with the exception of the Doctor of Pharmacy major (PharmD). PharmD majors will be awarded a merit scholarship and excellence award for the first two years of undergraduate enrollment as tuition significantly decreases in the third and fourth years (Professional-1 and Professional-2).
Q: I've achieved a high GPA during my high school years. Are there added benefits for me at St. Joe's?
A: Yes! Guaranteed admission students will receive an automatic invitation to apply to the Saint Joseph’s University Honors Program.
Q: Is there an application due date?
A: If you are pursuing the Saint Joseph’s guaranteed admission program, you can apply using the Early Action or Early Decision application (Common App or SJU App) and submit all other application documents by November 15 of your senior year.
Q: What documents do I need in addition to the application?
A: Additional required documents include a personal essay, official academic transcript up to junior year of high school and one academic recommendation letter. Standardized test scores are optional. There is no application fee to apply to Saint Joseph’s University.
