If you decide you want to go further, many of these programs are “stackable” and can be used towards a earning a full master’s degree.

The Barnes: Certificates, Workshops, and Classes

The Barnes Horticultural Certificate Program is a three-year program dedicated to horticultural science, designs and methods. Students will have hands-on experience in the Barnes Arboretum and, upon completion of the program, will have the option to sit for the Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist exam. For those who want to delve into more specific fields of horticulture without enrolling in a formal program, the Barnes Arboretum offers individual workshops and classes year-round. Note: Barnes programs will restart once on-campus programming resumes.
