On The Job: Nate Zane BS ’28

Nate Zane BS ‘28, a rising junior studying political science and business in the pre-law program, is spending his summer interning in the office of U.S. Senator Andy Kim. Zane is working in constituent services, handling calls, case work and outreach for New Jersey residents.

The Day-to-Day:

Most days require taking calls, working on ongoing projects, doing outreach, constituent services and putting together commendations and certificates.

Go-to snack or drink that gets you through the day:

Chocolate chip granola bar, keeps me going between calls.

Memorable moment:

My most memorable and rewarding moment was finishing a big project that consisted of compiling contact information for every elected official in New Jersey. This is something the office can actually use going forward.

Favorite part of your role:

Helping the people of New Jersey and seeing how the work actually makes a difference.

Fit check:

Dress shirt and tie most days. Polos and khakis on Fridays.

Tips for the next intern:

Ask questions, even the “dumb” ones. If you don't know something, ask a colleague instead of guessing. Try to connect with as many coworkers as possible, building that network matters just as much as the work itself.
