To celebrate the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology, prayers and hymns related to Laudato Si' and creation care will be integrated into the Sunday masses held at the Chapel of St. Joseph on the SJU Hawk Hill campus.

Join the Lower Merion Conservancy and SJU Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability Collaborative for an event about the many benefits of native plants, including pollinator habitat and stormwater absorption. Participants will take home a pot of native plants that can be put outside their door or on their balcony.

Meet outside the Chapel of St. Joseph

Join us for a trash cleanup of the SJU campus and surrounding areas. Drop by our check-in table to get supplies and a zone assignment, and stop back by at the end of your shift to drop off your supplies and full bags to get weighed.

Join us to make your own sustainable snack pack! Participants will make their own salad in a jar using local ingredients, hummus, and a garlic herb dressing that uses the chickpeas and liquid reserves to show prevention of food waste.

Join Head Gardener Katie Jacoby for a guided garden tour of legacy trees. You'll learn how they are cared for, their unique histories, and how they provide increased ecological value as they age. All are welcome to attend and encouraged to explore.

Sharing Excess is a national non-profit food rescue organized based in Philadelphia that collects surplus food and distributes it to the greater Philadelphia community. CEO Evan Ehlers will share the history of the organization, what he does, and how their work connects to the future of food.
