On-Campus
Career Closet
The Career Closet provides new and gently used inclusive, profession-related clothing, accessories, shoes, and outerwear free of charge to all members of the Saint Joseph's University community. We embrace the philosophy of “take what you need, and give what you can” to provide access to attire needed for interviews, events, internships, and jobs. The Career Closet is located at the Cura Collective in Saint Albert’s Annex (40 Lapsley Lane) on the Hawk Hill campus.
HawkHUB
HawkHUB, Saint Joseph’s University’s basic needs and resource center, works to address and combat basic needs insecurity in the SJU community. The organization maintains four locations across all three campuses, providing free food, toiletries, school supplies, period products, and other items to members of the SJU community. Beyond providing basic needs, HawkHUB also hosts volunteer programs and partners with local organizations like Project HOME’s Hub of Hope. HawkHUB supports SJU's commitment to sustainability by collecting unopened, non-perishable food during Move-Out each year to stock locations for the upcoming academic year.
Faith-Justice Institute
The Faith-Justice Institute explores contemporary issues of faith and justice through academic courses, public forums and experiential field seminars. These initiatives seek to critically analyze the sources of and reasons for injustice and to actively fashion more just communities at local, national and international levels. Such efforts should be rooted in a spirituality that takes seriously the world as it unjustly exists and that fosters hope and commitment to keep working to reshape that world in the light of Gospel values.
Student Support and Well-being
In the Jesuit spirit of caring for the "whole person," Student Support & Well-being offers assistance to students and recognizes nine dimensions of well-being, including environmental well-being. Environmental well-being recognizes the innate connection between ourselves and our environment, and encourages us to live in a manner that is appreciative of nature and respectful of the Earth. Environmental well-being may include spending time outdoors connecting with nature, developing environmentally friendly habits, as well as caring for our personal spaces.
Off-Campus
EcoPhilly
As part of the Laudato Si' Movement, the mission of EcoPhilly is to establish a network of creation care teams throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia that achieve measurable improvements in their local environment.
Laudato Si' Action Platform
The Laudato Si' Action Platform equips Catholic institutions and individuals to journey towards total sustainability in the spirit of Laudato Si'. Saint Joseph's University achieved Laudato Si' certification in the summer of 2025 and continues to report to the Laudato Si' Action Platform annually.
Ecological Examen
The Ecological Examen is a tool for prayer, reflection and action as individuals in their home, parish, school, university or community deepen our call to care for creation and the most vulnerable. The Ecological Examen asks you to reflect on your personal relationship with creation, to acknowledge and amend your ways and to promote ecological justice by standing in solidarity with those most impacted by environmental harm.
