Struggling to find the perfect New Year’s resolution? Here are five ideas based on the stories that shaped Saint Joseph’s this year.

Stop the scroll

There’s lots to do on St. Joe’s campus and beyond to get off the screen and into the real world this year. Take in works of art at the Maguire Art Museum, take a day trip to see the sights in and around Philadelphia, grab a bite at a Hawk-owned restaurant, or curl up with a good book — your brain will thank you.

Prioritize your health

Take care of your body and mind this year. Whether it’s scheduling a timely telehealth appointment for your sore throat, finally trying out physical therapy for that pesky shoulder pain, or taking preventative measures for your heart health, keep up with your doctor’s appointments in 2026.

Upgrade your fandom

St. Joe’s sports teams soared to new heights in 2025 and are set to continue on the same path in 2026. It’s the perfect time to hitch your wagon to one of the many athletic powerhouses on Hawk Hill, whether it’s the Atlantic 10 tournament giant field hockey team, the men’s basketball team under new head coach Steve Donahue, or the cheerleading team on the heels of a historic year, there’s a team for every taste. If you prefer to stick to professional sports, you can follow the careers of some illustrious Hawks — Rasheer Fleming is in the midst of his rookie NBA season with the Phoenix Suns, and Colton Book is set to take the mound in the Chicago Cubs organization.

Care for the Earth

2025 was a year of environmental stewardship at St. Joe’s, and the commitment will continue in 2026. Keeping in mind Pope Francis’ call to action in his Laudato Si’ encyclical, there are many ways to make an impact on the planet. Choose a sustainable cause that means something to you or get out to clean up your local community.

Expand Your Academic Horizons

There are opportunities for continued learning to fit every schedule and level of interest. Take a course outside your comfort zone, apply to a scholarship or fellowship to broaden your perspective, try a noncredit training to enhance your business, or earn a certificate to level up your resume. Even if you’ve been out of the academic world for a while, it’s never too late to chart a new path.
