Meet the Trainers
Sam Baird
Hi, I'm Sam! I'm a Food Marketing major in my junior year, and I'm originally from the Philadelphia area. My favorite piece of gym equipment is the cable machine, I hate peanut butter and my go-to Chipotle order is double chicken. Before I became AAAI/ISMA certified for personal training I started by coaching nationally ranked climbing teams, where I fell in love with learning why training plans work.
Your fitness goals should create a better, healthier you, but it's easy to feel like that life belongs to a different person. Plenty of people will tell you to overhaul your life with complicated plans and constant discipline, but years of coaching have taught me what actually works. You don't have to choose between your life and your goals; my best plans are my simplest ones.
Ryan Torgerson
Hey, I’m Ryan Torgerson! I’m an Exercise Physiology major with a Psychology minor, graduating in 2027, and an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. I know firsthand how much of a difference having a great trainer can make. After experiencing my own progress through personal training, I was inspired to help others become stronger, more confident versions of themselves. My training philosophy? Give it your best, embrace the challenge, and don’t be afraid to fail! I believe pushing your limits is part of the process, and I’m all about helping my clients work hard while remembering that progress takes more than just a good muscle pump.
Originally from Staten Island, New York, my favorite equipment is cables or free weights. You can usually find me at PJ Whelihan’s every Wednesday for trivia night with friends. My most unexpected talent? I can dunk a blueberry on a 10-foot rim! If you’re looking for a trainer who will push you, relate to you, and help you work toward your goals while keeping it real, I’m ready to help you level up!

Fitness has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, even though my relationship with it has changed a bit over the years. From growing up as an uncoordinated kid to spending five years living the beach life in San Diego and undergoing two shoulder surgeries, I've experienced firsthand how our fitness goals and abilities can evolve. Those experiences have led me to try different approaches to exercise and taught me that there is no one way to stay active. As a CPT and someone pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I will always believe the most important muscle we train is our brain. Building confidence in what our bodies can do and developing consistency with movement matter more than any single workout. My goal is to help people challenge themselves while enjoying the process along the way. I'll be your biggest hype man, and have you leaving each class feeling stronger and better equipped to handle life's everyday stressors
