Technical Sergeant Phillip R. Rodriguez
TSgt Phillip R Rodriguez is the Officer Accessions Instructor at the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 750, located at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is responsible for Security Clearances, Medical Clearances, Onboarding, Physical Fitness Assessments, Body Composition Assessments, Cadet Pay Auditor, Commissioning, and instructing the AS100/AS250 curriculum.
Technical Sergeant Rodriguez entered the United States Air Force on October 19, 2009 from Luquillo, Puerto Rico. He began his career as a 1P0 Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE) in Yokota, Air Base, Japan where he specialized on aircrew equipment for C-130s and helicopters; he deployed to Kuwait and also participated in Operation Tomodachi (2011). Later, TSgt Rodriguez would specialize as a parachute and cargo rigger for most of his career serving in the 23d Special Tactics Squadron where he deployed to locations like Afghanistan, Jordan and Australia. After his time at the STS he would venture to the Wings of Blue Parachute Team at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) where he served as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) for the parachute loft and later as the Quality Assurance NCOIC (QA NCOIC). Here he was directly in charge of training cadets on how to safely pack parachutes and support the airmanship program titled AM-490 which allowed cadets in gaining their parachute wings after five unsupervised jumps. He became an 8B3 effective March 2025 when he was assigned to the ROTC detachment 750 in St Joseph University, Philadelphia.
