In honor of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and our 50th anniversary of welcoming the first female students to Saint Joseph’s University, a group of Saint Joseph’s faculty, staff and students are organizing events designed to celebrate and recognize women, and shine a light on the continued fight for gender equality.

100-Second Lecture Featuring Usha Rao, Ph.D

Our third 100-Second Lecture this fall will premiere on Thursday, November 19 at 11 a.m. It features Usha Rao, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Geochemistry whose research focuses on environmental pollution and sustainability. She is the editor of an upcoming research volume by the Taylor and Francis group on environmental sustainability. Dr. Rao is also the Founding Director of the Office of Teaching and Learning and helps to coordinate and oversee the university’s pedagogical initiatives and resources. Dr. Rao has been honored twice with merit awards for exceptional achievement in teaching.

The series is just one way SJU is celebrating women in 2020. It will feature six members of the Saint Joseph’s community – an administrator, a staff member, a faculty member, a coach, a student and an alumnae – to speak for just shy of two minutes on the topic of leadership.
