Classroom teaching experience in resource rooms and self-contained special education classrooms, grades 1-8. Classroom teaching experience in a short-term residential hospital setting, grades 1-12. Special education consultant for the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit #13 for 5 years, providing training and technical assistance to general education and special education teachers. Professor at Lebanon Valley College, 17 years.
My primary research goals involve: (1) improving the behavior and academic performance of children with disabilities (especially students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and emotional/behavioral disorders) and (2) providing pre-service teachers with practical experiences which increase their abilities to successfully educate and support children with disabilities and their families. For the last 12 years, my colleagues and I have been studying the effects of aerobic exercise on behavior, academic responding, motor skills, and sleep in children on the Autism Spectrum.
