Please provide a brief description of what you do in your role.
As an Underwriting Assistant Intern at Munich Re Specialty Insurance, I help support the underwriting team. I work on both new and renewal accounts, enter data, research risks, and help organize important documents.
What’s your day-to-day schedule like?
Each day, I review submissions, enter information into our system, and research details about potential risks. I sometimes talk to brokers and work with internal teams to help with decision-making. I also assist with other tasks as needed.
How did you land your job/internship?
I got the internship through an interview that was set up by the co-op program at Saint Joseph’s University. The program helped connect me with this opportunity and prepare me for the interview.
What skills do you use on a daily basis in this role?
I use time management, organization, and communication skills every day. I also use basic computer skills and pay close attention to detail when entering information and doing research.
How did your SJU education prepare you for this opportunity?
SJU provided me with access to professional events that helped me gain a better understanding of the business world I was entering.
What is some advice you would give to students who are searching for internships and jobs?
When looking for an internship, you should tailor your search toward a position that aligns with your soft skills. This allows you to be yourself and feel comfortable during interviews and communication.
