Chinese Language and Culture Minor
Overview
Learning Chinese is best accomplished when students are engaged in fun, exciting and rewarding experiences. At Saint Joseph's University, the Chinese program faculty provide an interactive learning environment to encourage exploration of the language. The program also offers deep guidance in the cultural background, thinking and behavior of the Chinese people.
You will take language courses that utilize advanced teaching methods and cutting-edge instructional materials and technology. If you're a beginner or intermediate, you will develop proficiency in aural comprehension, speaking, reading, writing and word processing in Mandarin Chinese.
You will also be encouraged to participate in English-language-based courses in Chinese culture to enrich your knowledge of Chinese history, philosophy and culture. You'll have opportunities to participate in study abroad programs, including faculty-led summer programs and the semester programs in China.
Some students combine a minor in Chinese with a major or minor in Asian studies, but you can also combine it with several other majors.
