First Year Residence Halls - Basic Measurements
Room Dimensions
All of the rooms in the First Year Residence Halls have slight variances based on the window/door locations and hallway placement. Below are general dimensions for rooms in McShain, Sister Thea Bowman, and Villiger Halls:
McShain
- McShain 2-person room: 10'3" x 14'7" (not including closet area)
- McShain 3-person room: these rooms have a unique shape - the short wall is approximately 12' and the long walls are 16'-21'
Villiger
- Villiger 2-person room: 10'6" x 20'
Sister Thea Bowman
- Sister Thea Bowman single room: 8'9" x 14'
- Sister Thea Bowman 2-person room: 12'4" x 18'
Furniture Dimensions
We understand that students want to make their room their new home. Below are most commonly asked for measurements of furniture within the rooms. Please understand that we are not able to visit individual rooms to get custom measurements for specific items/specific rooms.
- McShain
- Beds: Generally non-adjustable with 11" clearance underneath
- Desks: Built-in along length of window wall
- Villiger
- Beds: adjustable with up to 30" clearance underneath
- Desks: 45"(w) x 24"(d) x 30"(h)
- Wardrobes:
- Sister Thea Bowman
- Beds: adjustable with up to 30" clearance underneath; all XL twin
- Desks: 42"(w) x 24'(d) x 30"(h)
- Wardrobes: 36"(w) x 24"(d) x 72"(h); 2 doors with copy interior shelf, clothes rod, and 2 bottom drawers
