Biomedical Sciences Major

Biomedical science puts foundational scientific knowledge into practice, spurring innovation in interventions, technology and biomedical engineering.   • Customizable Degree Tracks

    Working closely with your advisor, you can craft your own degree track based on your personal and career interests. Possible tracks could include biotechnology, clinical science, neuroscience and physician assistant.

    Pre-Physician Assistant Program

    Saint Joseph’s offers a pre-professional physician assistant program for biomedical sciences majors who are interested in attending graduate PA school and pursuing a career as a physician assistant. You can choose from a three-year accelerated or traditional four-year undergraduate track to earn a biomedical sciences degree. If you meet all progression requirements, you’ll be granted an interview for admission to Saint Joseph’s physician assistant program.

Our biomedical sciences major is one of two programs of its kind in the region. It’s the only program in the Philadelphia area focused primarily on the health sciences. Biomedical Sciences Major Admissions Information

To apply for the Biomedical Sciences BS program, complete an application online. SAT and/or ACT scores are optional but you can submit them if you think they’ll strengthen your application.

    Biochemistry Bachelor’s College of Arts and Sciences

    As a biochemistry student, you’ll dive into an exciting interdisciplinary field that explores the chemicals and chemical reactions in living systems. You’ll learn to use powerful analytical tools — including nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry and fluorescence spectroscopy — to study the molecules that power life.

    The chemistry major at Saint Joseph’s introduces students to all of the major sub-disciplines in chemistry: analytical, biochemical, inorganic, organic and physical. Emphasis is placed on chemistry as a laboratory science.
