Saint Joseph’s University’s art education MS program can be completed 100% online or on campus. This flexibility is designed to meet the needs of working professionals in the field seeking to advance their careers.

With 12 hours of student teaching, Saint Joseph’s art education curriculum allows you to explore artistic ideas in studios and in the classroom. This program offers a unique opportunity for you to advance your development as an artist while preparing to be an art teacher. You will leave the program with a deep understanding of the roles of education within the wider context of culture and society.

Graduates are prepared to be reflective, principled educators who are deeply committed to furthering student achievement as well as teacher performance. This tradition reinforces ethical and moral leadership and teaching methods centered on values and principles, and advocates for social justice in education for underrepresented communities and students.

If you are a current undergraduate student at Saint Joseph’s University, we offer an accelerated bachelor’s/master’s program that allows you to begin earning your master’s in art education in your senior year. This model enables you to complete your undergraduate and graduate work in just five years, instead of the traditional six or seven.

To be considered for admission you must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and have earned an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

• Art teachers earn an average salary of $48,475 per year
• Secondary art teachers earn an average salary of $58,640 per year
• Museum exhibit designers earn an average salary of $63,350 per year
